St Thomas a Becket RC Primary School, Abbey Wood Year 3 Students visit to Diamond Buddhist Centre UK for an Educational Tour.
St Thomas a Becket RC Primary School, Abbey Wood Year 3 Students led by the School Teacher, Ms Kelly with 24 students and 3 adult staff visited to the Diamond Buddhist Centre, UK, 17A Willenhall Road, Woolwich, London, SE18 6TY on 13th May 2024. The objective of the visit was to introduce and familiarise with the temple, rituals, and basic meditation practice. The tour was also an educational tour to educate the primary school students on interfaith relation between Buddhism and Christianity. Mr Sumal Kumar Gurung, Founder President, and Patron of the Diamond Buddhist Centre, UK who is a learned scholar, imparted a brief speech on introduction of the Lord Buddha and Buddhism. After a basic introduction, on the request of the students, the Chief Priest of the temple (Gumba), Guru Khenrimpoche, Santosh Gurung taught basic rules of mediation and imparted the practice to the students for a couple of minutes. The Guru also chanted the Buddhist prayer and requested all to pray collectively for the benefit of all sentient beings. The students were all delighted to chant the prayer. This was the first historical moment in a Nepalese Buddhist Temple that the students from a local school benefitted after its inception. Mr Yogesh Gurung, President of the organization, Mr Ram Gurung, the Chief Adviser, Founder member, Mrs Sara Devi Gurung , Mr Prem Gurung, and the Gumba (Temple) Manager Man Chhantyal were also present during the visit of the students. The students were offered snacks and drinks before their departure from the temple.
आज १३ मई २०२४कॊ दिन आबीवुड, केन्ट स्थित सेन्ट थॊमास ए बेकेट आरसी प्राईमरी स्कुलमा कक्षा तीनमा अध्ययनरत् ससाना विध्यार्थीहरूका टिचर मिस केली, उनका सहयॊगी तीनजना अन्य स्टाफहरूसंग २४ जना विध्यार्थीहरूले पहिलॊचॊटी डायमन्ड बुद्धिस्ट सेन्टरका गुम्बामा ऐतिहासिक शैक्षिक भ्रमण गरेका छन् । संस्थाका संस्थापक अध्यक्ष तथा सङरक्षक सुमलकुमार गुरूङले भगवान बुद्धकॊ जीवनी बारे प्रकाश पारेका थिए । गुम्बाका श्रद्देय प्रमुख गुरूलाई ध्यानयॊग बारे बुझाउन अनुरॊध गर्दा गुरूले संक्षेपमा आधारभूत ध्यान गर्ने बारे, अभ्यास र बुद्ध प्रार्थनाबारे बताएका थिए । यस अवसरमा अध्यक्ष यॊगेश गुरूङ, प्रमुख सल्लाहकार राम गुरूङ, संस्थापक सदस्य सारा गुरूङ, गुम्बा म्यानेजर मन छन्त्यालले सहभागिता जनाएका थिए ।
